The 20″ Steel Crosscut Blade for Radial Arm Saws and Beam Saws is a friction blade that provides excellent results when cutting thin sections of mild steel on Original Saw Company saws. Sawing of ferrous metal with this type of blade is done by friction, which requires a fine-tooth blade. It also needs to be operated at a high arbor speed. This saw blade requires industrial saws equipped with large motors and clamping fixtures. Friction blades burn through the stock and remove globules of metal rather than chips. Some burring of the material may result.
Friction saws are superior to abrasive wheels where finish and cutting life are essential. Change friction saw blades frequently for sharpening to avoid damaged blades and excessive burring. This blade is ideal for cutting hollow metal doors, steel tubes, fabrication, structural shapes, and angle cutting.
